I may be selling a coin collection on Ebay

My brother died a year ago. He started collecting coins in 1949.
Last winter when I visited my sister-in-law we discussed selling his coins. At that time, I told her if she didn't need the money, maybe she should hang onto them until she was sure she was ready to let go of something my brother treasured so much.
She called a little earlier tonight to say she's ready to sell them.
There's some pretty nice stuff there, some of which has been put away for more than half a century.
I guess I'll need to buy a digital camera and learn to take good picture so I can get her the best possible prices for the coins.
He had a complete set of Lincoln cents including the 1922 no D. I gave that coin to him as well as a few others over the years.
I remember getting a 1950-D nickle in change from a coke machine in 1963 while in the Army. I sent it to my brother, as I wasn't able to keep a collection there. It'll be neat to hold that coin in my hand again. As a matter of fact, that may well be one I buy .

  • Sorry to hear about your brother. If your sister-in-law really wants you to sell the collection, why not get one of the board members to photograph them for you. Sounds like you have some nice specimens and for the relatively small amount for shipping, some of these board members take outstanding flics which may help you get top dollar. Just a thought.
    Good luck with it.

That's not really reasonable, shmort. There's a LOT of coins here.

Let me suggest finding a couple coins in the set and photographing them again and again--that way, when your ready to photograph all the coins, you'll be taking really good pictures--I don't recommend selling on your first pictures, simply because everyone gets better with practice.
