Do you ever list coins on eBay that you DON'T want to sell?

Yesterday was 50c listing fee day so I listed some coins from my collection at prices I would be willing to take for them, but I don't really want to sell them.

Now I have 8 watchers already and I'm kind of hoping nobody bids on them.

Some I could replace, but some are unique toned Morgans. At least I'm asking almost Anaconda kind of money for them.

I used to think about it, but I never did it. When I thought about it, the cheap listing fees sounded good. But if they make a lot more people list on that day, my item is competing with a LOT more items closing on the same day, probably reducing the number of bidders and the ultimate selling price. So in that sense, I think you can come out on the losing end by going for the cheap listing fee.

Let us know how the auctions pan out with an update.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • if you want, just end an item early...if theres no bidders, theres no harm done, i had to do it with a Athlon processor, it turned out i could use it so i ended early as "not for sale"

I listed this at around double what I paid for it... I took it down a few days later and had quite a few people email me about why I did it... I'm glad I did, because it's one of the highlights of my collection (and it's worth more now image)

I have in the past. Sad part is. I ask stupid money on those (usually 50-100% average market) and usually get it. Then, as I'm sending it off, I think... "Man, that was stupid of me."

You scared me. After 6 hours on the market I had to end the auction on this one since there were 2 watchers already.

  • No harm in ending auctions with no bids. I did this not long ago to sell to a forum member.
If I see an item I want and it has no or one bid I will bid at least to insure in my eyes the auction is not ended early. If there are two bids I wait to snipe.

    NO.

In fact many posters have been raked over the coals for ending auctions early.

If you put it up for auction it should be for sale.
