Okay, here's the deal:
I've got about 80 Morgan and Peace dollars that I am looking to liquidate. The dates range from 1921-D Morgans to 1922 (P,D,S), 23 (P,D,S), 1925 (P), and 1926 (D,S) Peace dollars, with grades ranging from VF 20 through AU 55, with a couple UNCs (with the majority grading EF).
Now, I went to a neighborhood coin dealer today who basically offered me $4.00 each for the VFs to EFs, $5.00 each for the AUs and $7.00 each for the Uncs (yeah, I know).
So, I see in the buyers section of Coin World where both Covina Coin and Upstate Coins are offering a minimum of $8.00 each for all VG graded Peace dollars, with AU bringing $9.50 and up.
My questions are, has anyone here dealt with (sold coins to) Covina and/or Upstate, and, if so
Do you believe that you received fair compensation, and
Do either offer a better price for grades between VG and AU or is everything below AU bought at the VG quoted price?
Thanks, Jim
