1972 Topps Football Nearing Goal...

My goal for the national this year was to boost my 1972 Topps Football set to the 9.00 Set Rating. Well I must say that I fell 0.02 points short. So I have decided to push my goal back a couple months and hopefully reach 9.00 by the Registry Awards. Hi Carlos, That's an incredible set. Do you have any PSA 10s in the set? I just started a mostly PSA 7 (a few PSA 8) 1971 Topps football set. I have 46 cards so far. Do you have any advice on this set? Do you know any honest sellers for football cards? Let me know, Neil

Its amazing how when you've reached this point - it seems to take 6 or 7 cards for each .01!!! Continued good luck and look forward to that day when we see the immortal 9.00!!!!

Carlos, You have a killer set of 72's going. I read in a earlyer thread that King Kellogg GAVE you two 1972 wax packs to open at the luncheon and that is unbelievable! I love busting vintage wax even when it cost me an arm and a leg but to get it free is truly amazing. did you get anything out of the packs you needed for your set?

I hate the fact that I can make 5 upgrades and still not see a change in my GPA or Set Rating. I still wish PSA would add a couple decimal places to the GPA and Set Rating so I can see a little progress from my upgrades. Plus with so many sets on the registry and many collectors tied in some catagories it would be the ultimate tie-breaker. Major League baseball does it near the end of the season when two player are close in Batting Average, I wish PSA would do the same.

I picked up only one upgrade at the show, but found some raw cards that I submitted for grading...Still waiting for those results.

Yes the King did give me two series 2 wax packs that I opened at the luncheon. There were 3 cards that I thought were a lock for a PSA 9 NQ so I had them graded. 2 of the 3 came back 9's none of which upgraded my set, but the gift was incredible and deeply appreciated. Hail to the King.
