Any interest in an ongoing thread featuring date by date analysis of the Buffalo nickel series?

ala mojo with credited excerpts from several references (i.e. auction catalogs, Lange's Complete Guide, Cherrypicker's, etc.)?

I would love it and would be happy to chime in with my own experiences on occasion.

This is a series with several experts around here and with many users wanting more information.

Although it may sound a bit odd coming from a Lincoln cent guy, I would be very interested in seeing this.

Thanks for your replies! I would love to work with some of the other Buffalo collectors on the forum. Without a doubt there are areas of expertise within the series that others could speak more intelligently on than I (proofs for example). Any contributors please PM me and we'll get this thing going!

Sounds great. The price guide editor for NN commented this week that because of so many dates/mints with awful strikes, Buffalos need a date-by-date grading book!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

My five year old son has chosen buffalo nickels as his area of interest. While we collect our mid-grade circulated specimens together, it would be nice to learn more about the series.

Great idea. I can't grade MS Buffalos worth a hoot.

Mid range VF - XF - AU date analysis would also be very beneficial.

I'm getting some great response from interested contributors to my Buffalo Nickel analysis thread. So far I have two published authors on the subject willing to submit material and hope that some of our expert forum members will help out as well. I hope to have the material for the 1913 Type I & II P, D, and S series gathered in the next week and will begin posting the results on August 6th.

All contributors can either PM me or submit material to my email: thedigitalduo@comcast.net.

    Thank you all.

Thanks relayer! I remember that post. Great info. I'll try to work some of that in, especially where it pertains to those much maligned "common" dates. I hope to provide a lot of answers to questions people might have about this issue, so please feel free to let me know what you would like to see in this endeavor and I will try to accomodate you.
