Dracula coins

I saw in another thread a "dracula" coin. My wife is a huge vampire buff and I was thinking it might be nice to get her a "dracula" coin or something to that effect. Maybe a gold coin that I could have mounted in a bezel. Any suggestions? Thx.

Unfortunately "Dracula" (Vlad the impaler) never actually issued any coins, but his father Dracu did. (In the language of the area the indication of whose son you were was indicated by the addition of la after the fathers name, so he was Vlad Dracula, Vlad son of Dracu.) I may have the spelling of Vlad wrong.

Something your wife might like is one of these modern "Targoviste Tokens" of Dracula. Targoviste wass a former capital of Wallachia. These come in silver and gilt (and maybe bronze -- I don't remember), mine being an example of the latter. My friend Anton Voitinovici ("loldia" on eBay) often has them.
