It's probably a feeler-email. It's where potential spammers send out a blank email--only it's not really blank. It contains some HTML code that, once the email is opened, sends a message to the sender that your email address is valid. Valid email addresses then get collected and sold for big bucks.

Regular spam contains these types of feelers, too, so that they know you've opened their email.

    Yup. Jrinck is exactly right.

What I usually do is turn off the preview pane in outlook and collect them all together ina group and do a mass delete. If your preview pane is still on when you do it it's enough time for the http request to be generated. Deleting the email before anything "comes up" is not good enough, the request will still finish, in which case you might as well have just waited to see if it had any contents or not. It's the same difference. They suck. Spammers suck. I deleted over 6000 emails the other day from spammers. I have a dozen different rules set up on outlook to try and block them as well. Some still manage to get through.

Another thing you will want to keep an eye out for is the 'undeliverable mail' message that contains the 'my doom' virus. If you get anything with that in the title, delete it immediately. I had 5 waiting in my work mail box this morning.
