I say stick with the 1901. It is a very nice thread that runs from QV's last year to your Princess' first year. I think that is too special to change to make the search easier/more or less inclusive, et cetera.

Plus, you still have about 9 years to really tinker with it, so why not keep at it?

I'd stick with the current theme too. It's going to be neat for anyone to get a bunch of coins that come from 100 years before their birth. If you start mixing up the dates I believe they just become less meaningful to the non-collector.

Yes, I think that your daughter will see the effort made and understand the theme and the patience of her father more so if she sees a whole collection dedicated to her and the year of her birth than if you have tons of coins with Victoria on them. Just think it is more meaningful if they are all 1901.

Then again both your and my daughter will probably look at them and say, "meh" and not care at all. Then we can sit and cry in the corner together LM.

I'm sort of going to split the difference. I'll keep the 1901 theme, but am chopping all the circulated and raw stuff from the collection.

From here on out, it is all Mint State and slabbed. Well, I might keep the Aussie sovereign for the time being, even though it's AU58. It's one of only two gold coins in the set. Then again, maybe with the sale of the stuff I'll be pruning out, I can afford to upgrade that to MS, and/or maybe find a Brit sovereign too. Who knows.

So the set is now shrinking considerably in terms of coins on hand, but it should be a bit more consistent. We'll just have more empty holes instead of circulated coins. (One or two MS coins that I'm not totally thrilled with might also get the chop.)

Like I said before, the set was due for some housekeeping. I'll either fix the images in the OP here or launch a new thread.

Most of the castoffs are now on eBay at 99c starts, ten day auctions, free world shipping. Hopefully that will draw some bids. Even though I'm parting with the circs and raw stuff, there are still some very nice coins in there.

I'd love to see an updated picture of Victoria. I can't believe how much she must have grown.

LordM, I think that is a good decision. Clean up some stuff you do not want to deal with, and upgrade the collection as a whole. Nice call.

Becky, I don't have a really current one on hand at the moment (all of those are no doubt in ladymarcovan's image accounts), but here is one I found on the hard drive, from circa the spring of 2011. It's already obsolete, as she's beginning to look more and more like *gasp!* a teenager every day now (though she won't officially be a true teen until September of 2014.)

At this age, as you parents know, a picture can become obsolete within a week or two.
