is that a brothel token?
Y'know, just tonight I was goin' through my detector finds album and remembered I have a 1914 Canadian large cent, that I dug in a park here. When I found it, it was encased like that. Unfortunately, the aluminum outer ring (or whatever it was encased in) was totally corroded and crumbled away. It wasn't ever readable, though after much cleaning, the coin came out OK. I suspect it was a "lucky" encasement. Too bad the shell part (or whatever you call that outside ring) was corroded away. It looked like zinc, actually.

Cam40, if you are referring to his icon, that's a "bingle" from Alaska, and a nice one, too. They are listed in the back of the Redbook, now.
Man! I just noticed that was an "S" mint cent in that auction! Way cool! Even if it doesn't have a VDB on the reverse.
It's a Bingle tiger. Get it? Hmm? Hmm? A BINGLE tiger?
Ha! I crack myself up!
Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies.
I scanned the site breifly. A whole lot of information, and an interesting collecting specialty!!

does anyone collect irradiated dimes?
Looking for 1967 PCGS/NGC slabbed coins.

They have to come out in better shape than the coins made into jewelry.

I like it encased like that, too.
How much did that cost you and how much did you sell it for?
Shamika - it sold for $320..
I've seen some strange symbols on those old lucky tokens: wishbones, swastikas, horseshoes, clovers, elephants, rabbit's feet, and so on... but that's the first dustpan!
Here's one I dug, with quite an array of symbols on it:

They aren't too hard to get out but they are severely damaged.

Yes there are people who collect them, I've considered doing it but haven't started yet.
