Stuart... check for the doubled ear. offhand, I can't remeber the VAM number, but that is one that can be cherrypicked. BTW, nice coin

If that luster is for real, you did well.

Puff, CoinKat, CCR & Shamika: Thanks for your posts and kind comments on my new 1891 Morgan!!

    I think that it's a strong MS-63 with a big 4x price jump to MS-64 image

Had the same thought when I looked at his photo, the earlobe may be doubled. VAM-2 is the doubled ear...and roughly (don't hold me to this) double the value.

CoinKat & Wolf359: Thanks for the heads-up on the potential scarce VAM-2 variety on the 1891 -- Will do when I receive the coin, and I'll update this thread with my determination. Thanks! image

Thanks Don & anablep!! I am looking forward to examining the coin in person. image

The best part is that I was able to pick it up for between Greysheet bid & ask spread and the coin price jumps 4X in the next higher (MS-64) grade image

It also fills another hole in my Morgan Dollar Registry Set which I am diligently and selectively building...

Why step over the dollar to get to the cent? Because it's a 55DDO.
