Trade dollars with chop marks

I was at the Bellaire coin show over the weekend and really wanted a nice trade dollar with chop marks. I know it defaced the coin, but I wanted a piece of history that actually went to China and made it back and was used for what it was made for.

Picked up a really nice about AU-55 1875-S with one nice clean chop mark on the front. Paid $250 for it and not sure I really got that great of a deal but I am very happy with the coin. Great conversation piece. Gotta love history.

That's about the right price for that quality of chopmarked trade dollar. Glad you like it!

  • I picked up a Spanish 8 Reales(SP) from EBay and it has 4 chopmarks. They are really kind of neat and makes you wonder why at least 4 people didn't trust each other.

I don't collect Trade Dollars, but if I did, I'd want chop marks. Absolutely the way to go.
