Heh, interesting story with mine, too, in a way. I experimented with crossing from NTC. Mostly because they had attractive toning. Thankfully I bought them at discount.

1 21645721 1935 25C USA AU58 ...... was NTC 64, paid about 61 price but not surprised as 58, red/green color
2 21645722 1939 5C Reverse of 1940 USA MS64 .... very nice rainbow, bought raw for $4
3 21645723 1942 5C Type 1 USA PR65 ..... pleasant eye appeal, bought raw for $40
4 21645724 1941-D 10C USA MS66FB ..... was NTC 66FB but hard to mess these up
