Private feedback on Ebay

This always sends a warning flag up for me. If sellers are proud of their feedback, why hide it?

Do you automatically expect to pay less for items from sellers with private feedback?

I run across this every now and then.

No, Because I won't bid on auctions from someone with private feedback. If it is private, there is a reason, and that is a reason for me not to bid.

    Good luck!
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Ditto! Don't buy from sellers with PF, nor do I accept bids from bidders with PF.
  • There were and still are legit reasons for PF, most notably, privacy. Furthermore, your "score" is still displayed so if a seller is ripping people off it'll stick out. Nevertheless, I changed my feedback from private to public about 8 months ago because a couple of bidders requested - after I did so they saw I had nothing to hide and they bought my auctions. Why a seller wouldn't sell to someone with private feedback I don't understand! It should depend on their # of negatives and or score not their level of privacy!

Let me rephrase. I have accept bids from bidders with PF if the last 6 months score is clean. Yes, we can still see the score but no comments. There can be lots of reasons for 5 to 10 negatives within the last month. I just don't take chances on those. Obviously if he/she is hiding it; then there's a reason. I don't bother with it.

I've never understood why Ebay would even allow it. It's like a business hiding their report from the Better Business Bureau. You can still see the positives and negatives. But why are the negatives there? From retaliation or from ripping someone off for $5 k? Big difference.
