I am blown away

Never have I ever seen so many great cards outside holders that are so PSA worthy.I figured that was possible but wasn't convinced until I was physically able to see things with my own two eyes.

I think the biggest shows back home for me have been 100 tables or less.Either high priced graded material or EX mint and worse raw.All outrageously priced and only worth checking out when you have not much else close by when it somes to a CT show. However,I will give an "E" for effort to the promoter that goes out of his way to stand behind his shows.

This National is the biggest show I've ever been to.I have no idea how many tables the Sun Times has but that was the second biggest for me.

I could be wrong but think the National had 1000 tables. There was one guy out there who was well out of my price range that had COMPLETE raw sets from the 50s to 70s that were nm/t to gem mint. When I walked by his table and realized what was there only sold as complete I went into a coma. When I recovered it was time to sit down and search through what was availble as singles.Reminded me of home shows.

This guy probably had a complete set of 61s in 8 or better in binders.I saw the best centered 68s and 72s that anyone active in either years would have freaked over,as well.

Yup! Like walking into every major auction house you know of and meeting the bidders and sellers face to face.

I saw that guy too! I looked at the 1965 cards and thought they were binders where you woulc pick out certain cards....I thought I hit the motherload. Too bad he only sold those cards by the set as I would of been there all day long.

If its the guy I remember from AC, it was $35g or thereabouts. I didn't see him this year. I think he was wanting north of 20g for 1970s sets. Maybe I am blending a couple of dealers?

The dealer is Scott Bradshaw. He has the same sets at the show year after year priced as if they are already graded and in PSA 9 slabs. The cards are as nice as Rob says (have to be seen to be believed), but it is frustrating that they just sit there in the case without any realistic chance of being purchased.

Sounds like Scott Bradshaw. He has some really nice high end raw sets.

20K for 70's sets? Is that right? What if a lot of those "9's" are actually "8's"?

Having said that, does he have a website? I must have missed his offerings last year in AC.

I had the same experience with that guy:

I walked up to his display and asked to see this album filled with beautiful high-end raw 1958 Topps- all the cards at least on the opened page were nrmt+. I thought he was selling off raw singles.

The he said to me that he is selling the set in entirety and he is not breaking it up- I was disappointed but certainly impressed with the outward appearance of the set- it would make me nervous to have the cards sitting in a binder if they are of such nice quality!

He needs to put up a sign that says that the albums are for sale as sets only. Also would be nice if they had a price on them. I have a feeling that Mr. Bradshaw gets that question 20 times an hour. I asked two years ago about his 1962s. He quoted $41,000. I bought a set (admittedly not as nice) for $3,000 later in the same show from "the guy with the videos". I guess I can use the other $38,000 for upgrades.

Scott has been trotting out his primo raw sets at the National for a few years now. I don't think that he really has any interest in selling them but just likes to show them off. They are the best raw that I have ever seen. I asked him about the 1959 set and he wanted $60K for it. Whew! He said he drove all the way from California with all those sets in his Explorer and they filled the car up. Can you imagine if that car was stolen along the way?? image

I heard that he was once ripped off.I think no cards were involved but someone stole his truck.

Just happening to be thinking about these sets where some of the cards almost looked like they just left the facory the day before.

I remember Scott setting up at shows in SoCal with his beautiful sets. I always got the sense that he was more into being in a strategically advantageous position to buy walk-ins than to sell his sets. If I walked in with a great raw set and didn't know anybody from anybody, he's probably the dealer I would go to because of his display. I'm not going to be trying to sell my '54 Bowman set to a dealer with Yu-Gi-oh cards all over his table.

  • Maybe that's what he is waiting for. Someone to steal his car and the cards so he can collect the insurance money on them, and live happily ever after.

The guy knew his stuff too. Very large collection of high graded cards as well!

If I'm to understand correctly - Mr Bradshaw has all the money he needs for generations beyond his great grandchildren.Money is no real object unless he wants to sell a collection with the work and quality behind his efforts to build monster complete raw collections.

I too gathered that he is moreso displaying things than with desire to sell raw singles. His raw singles were not so great and neither was the price attatched either, but they were so nice to talk with I bought a few singles and paid the asking price.

Scott Bradshaw is one of the nicest guys in the business. I've bought from him at every show, I've paid well over "book," and I'll pay him well over "book" again the next time I see him.

Not only does his raw astound you, but lately he's been getting some of his stuff graded. My jaw dropped when he showed me some of the PSA 10's from his 1967 sets. That's the set I am working on, and it's the only graded stuff of his I looked at, but I'm sure he has more glorious graded cards from other years. Sadly, though, as you've all noted, the beauties were not for sale.

I would not worry too much about what number his raw stuff grades out for you. And he is quite visible at shows, so if an issue did arise, finding him will be no problem. He's a wonderful fellow.

    No...I'm not his agent. image
