What do you like best for this red IHC? Just trying to get a feel for most people's preferences. Conditions are exactly the same except changes in lighting.

#2 looks really nice on my monitor. #1 is dark and #3 is OK but not as sharp as #2.

  • I like number 1, but then again my monitor's brightness is higher (Mac monitors usually are).

I like #1 best. It's more dramatic and highlights the design better. I think it's the more attractive one.

#1 hands down. Much richer color.

Lets see, first of all...Nice IHC, lets see the Obverse.

OK, My wife likes number 1 the most, I believe because it shows alot of luster. Number is kind of an inbetween of course, but I originally went with number three. I guess it shows most of the surface texture.

Nice die cracks by the way. I see two, are there more?

Hmm. interesting. Do you want me to reveal the differences between the three?

    For color, #1 - For detail, #3.

I would think #2 represents the true look of the coin.

#1 has too much contrast present...

    #3 too much brightness...

I like 'em with the cartwheel showing, for some reason. That is what a nice red coin looks like when I'm looking at it. I don't see it with yours - are you diffusing the light with something??

Tell me which photo looks like the coin in hand. Does the coin look like #1. I doubt it.

Personally I'm drawn to #2 as it shows the luster reasonably well, but still has some contrast in the image and nopt too many dark areas. #2 loses some contrast but has good detail #1 has great contrast but loses detail in the shadowed area. I would think that lake's IHC pictured was shot with two lights, similar to #2.

    The differences are:

    #1 One light at about 10 oc'lock.

    #2: above plus a light at 2 o'clock

    #3: #2 plus another light at 12 o'clock.

I like seeing the coin without the glare.

#2 looks best on my calibrated monitor.

I have to agree as #1 make it looks like the fields are much darker then the devices even though I doubt that they are. #3 looks washed out around the edges
  • I think Number 3 is the best picture of the actual detail of the coin. Number one hides a little too many of the small flaws in the coin.
If I was going to sell it, I would put up #3, If I was going to send it to my friends, I would send #1.
Either Way, 1,2 or 3 its a great looking coin.

I vote for #2, and my monitor is calibrated, too (Adobe gamma). #3 is a close second. Look at the die crack at 6 o'clock. It's barely visible in #1, most visible in #2, and a little washed out in #3.

I like #1. I like being able to see the coin's "skin" a little in a good picture.

Went with #2, though I couldn't see any difference between it and #3. The color settings on this monitor are screwy and I'm at work with no control over that. All look nice.

  • Number 1 but if it was any darker with more shadow, I would have gone with number 2.
