I was struck by the idea that it would be interesting to form a collection made up only of famous americans portrayed on world coins.
Has anyone tried this yet?
I can think of a number of these but not as many as I thought I could...

<< <i>You'll find a lot of JFK commemoratives. >>
Maybe you could see how many JFKs you could pair with Marilyn Monroes!
There are a couple of MacArthur Pesos from the Phillipines, too.
Looking for 1967 PCGS/NGC slabbed coins.

No, no Elvis coins need apply. Let me re-phrase my original concept:
a collection of world coins, eliminating most NCLT, but including others, depending on whether the issue was spurious or not, depicting "famous" statesmen, leaders, military figures, and scientists as an example, but not Elvis!!!
There have to be more than we think...
I bought a book called "Medallic Portraits of Washtington" the other day on Ebay. It lists some world coins with Washington. Isle of Man seems to be the most reasonably priced. They were made in 1976.
The George Washington IOM in UNC I recently picked up had a very nice portrait and a good-looking coin overall and is what gave me the germ of the idea.
Elvis, stay on your throne "cause I don't want to see you in a 2 x 2.

HI ! EVERYONE! I'm still checking in now and then. I'm also still selling off my collection as the need arises. My Husband was turned down for a heart transplant but there is some interest in setting him up with stem cell research regenerating heart tissue that is taking place in Arizona. We haven't lost hope! He does pretty well on all the medication he takes.....he just can't do much and that's ok with me, as long as he is still with me! That's all I care about. I hope all is well with all of you!
If anyone is interested in this set of coins.....let me know. I'll try to check in more often.
Miss You All !
