When will my submission be done???!!! (and a question)

airplanenutairplanenut Posts: 22,149 ✭✭✭✭✭
My freebies went in 6/19... and have since been at PCGS for 25 business days, not including 5 Saturdays, as well (this being the 6th)... so, anyone have any idea how fast these have been processed recently and will be out/grades available?

Also, my real question... does PCGS put grades up on Saturdays, thus, should I be entering my invoice number a billion times today like Russ?

Don't forget to add any days that PCGS spent grading at any shows during the time your submission was in.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    Cbrchris,

I see you had a fake 1914-d come back, thats tuff. Where did you pick this up from and do you have any recourse?

also, how about posting a pick when it comes back, I am intrested in what it looks like as well as several other folks Im sure?

I will do my best to take a good pic when I get it back and post. I got the coin from my mother inlaw as a birthday gift last Oct, I had just became interested in coins a few months earlier. She has had the coin for many years now. I am not sure if she found the coin in circulation or if she received it from some family member. I think I will let her know the result, since she is curious. I was waiting to tell her till I get the coin back. She had kept it in her jewelry box. She mentioned about 15 years ago someone offered $50 for it. I was hoping it would have come back VF or XF. My father inlaw had even mentioned that years ago he was aware of fake 1944's that were changed to be 1914's. I guess I was not sure what to look for if that was it. It did not appear to be doctored. This was my first submission to PCGS. Do you know if there will be more notations on the return stating exactly what’s wrong, besides just Not Oringinal?

    Russ-
The Accented Hair is one of the first varieties that I have been able to identify fairly easily. After seeing a few post by you with accented hairs I started looking on ebay for them. I picked this one off of an auction that wasn’t even aware of what they had. I have found one other one, but didn’t send it in. I sent the Morgan in it’s place.

I was actually surprised at the Morgans grade for some reason I wasn’t expecting ms65. I still have lots to learn on the grading. I am interested in all types of coins, so I think that makes it a little harder to learn how to grade all types. I just picked up a 1883 Liberty Nickel and a 1824 Capped Bust Half. I feel I got a good deal on both by sniping the auction.

Not to Hijack the thread but this forum has been great. I am mostly a lurker and I have made a few purchases from the Buy Sell forum here. Although that was awhile ago.

My freebies went in 6/18. I called them thursday noting it was over, the someting I had heard flying around the 21 day figure) He said they were in the first verification stage and I asked him how long the verification stages took and he said it could even be done tomorrow (yesterday) of course it wasn't so am hoping for tomorrow.

When I told him it was over the 21 days he counted them and said it was 25 days but no comment.

No your return paperwork will not idetentify the problem with the 14-D. However this does'nt mean the coin is fake. PCGS is so concerned about expensive key dates that I beleive thay will error on the side of caution if in doubt.

It would be nice if PCGS expanded a little on the reasons of a coin BBing. Including method of alteration on some coins would be nice.

Although, if you put up decent pic's I am sure with the combined experience and knowledge of forum memebrs, we can come to a pretty good conclusion as to how it was done?

I can say with certainty that your order will not be done tomorrow.

Instead of punching in your invoice each time, use this link replacing the Xs with your invoice number and bookmark it:

Jim--For freebies, I wouldn't really complain... there's no guarantee, and heck, they're free

K6- I have the invoice saved in the form... I don't have to type anything imageimage
