Got my first 1/2 Dime, Opinions please?

Finally arrived today in the mail. With my novice experience in this coin series I'm thinking it grades VF20ish. I'm curious as to all your thoughts on it's grade and just what ya think overall. Also, I don't have any of the bust series books for attribution so if any of you could let me know any more detailed info on this coin I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Rich

    1834 LM-4. R-1.

Nice coin. I like the even wear and the color. Enhances the originality.

I think a VF grade is appropriate. Still a lot of detail in the bust and eagle.

I'd go with VF20 too. Nice coin!

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Correct attribution image But, I say F12 on this one... lot of wear in there... and there shouldn't be that much wear on the eagle for a VF coin. There's also lots of wear spots on the Bust...

Very nice looking coin though, Rich image

G-man's right. It's closer to Fine. Not enough hair detail or feather detail to call it VF, as I see it.

    Still a nice original-lookin' coin.

Nice half D. I too agree with the G-man, that guy knows his busts.

I really like all of the J. Reich coins.

  • I love the color of those old bust coins. I still need to get myself a dime from the 1800's. Got one half-dime though, 1853 seated liberty.
  • Darn, can't believe it took me this long to find this post. Shame on me. I agree with George on this. Its about a F-12, with quite abit of wear, I got one just like this. Still a great looking coin though. Nice job.image

I'm trying to build a raw set of these in the F-VF range. Looks like I have the first member of my CBHD set image

Welcome to the club, George and I, I believe are the only ones doing this on here. Although im going for VF-XF, and I believe he might be going at that and alittle higher.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
