New Grading Service INS

Has anybody heard of this service? Here is an AU53-55 in an MS65 holder.

  • The internet gods thought it was accurately graded and didn't want my post. It gave me a message that the server signed out. Sorry about the double post.

It's not new, in fact it is one of the oldest services. INS began operations in 1975, and the slab you referenced is their fourth generation holder used from 1988 until 1992. INS was always low key and many people didn't seem to know about it even at the height of their operations. I don't know when they finally closed their doors, or if the even did. For a long time I thought they had folded in 1993 but about two years ago I ran across an INS slab with a 1997 copyright. For all I now they may still be in business.
  • Fixed the link.

I've never heard of them. Judging by the pictures, that coin looks good. I wonder if INS has a website.

I always like to repeact these three acronyms for newbies. Just remember these three, ignore everything else.
    PCGS/ NGC/ ANACS.

if i remember right, ins had those huge slabs that were like almost the size of a piece of notebook paper, didn't they? i also recall that their grading, imo, was some of the worst imaginable.

They are still in business. I heard that they are grading between 5 and 6 coins per year, hence the reason why you don't see many slabs.

(.......of course I am just kidding)

I have owned a few INS graded coins over the years. Horrific grading, at least on the examples that I had.
