so which opc hockey set is the most popular ??
i started out to collect a graded set of 71/72 figuring it was the set to do, as it is so popular, then realized 70/71 was really my favorite, so i switched sets and just got around to listing my 71/72 set on auction ( running currently item # 5111092137 )
i am anxious to see collector's opinions though : what year is the most popular ( or your most favorite ) and why ?
with my favorite being 70/71 here are some positives and negatives to the 70/71 set
70/71 opc positives :
264 card set--big but not too big like a 396 card set.
great close up player photos
6 different bobby orr cards as the cards reflect orr's best year when he won everything possible.
very attractive all star cards
nhl trophies incl. in set
a few "cool" cards in the set that are different and out of the norm like the sawchuk memorial card, bruins cup champs, the espo line.
as many nice rookie cards as most other early opc sets ? ( sittler, clarke, park, cashman, etc... )
the last regular issued card ( excluding wha cards ) of a guy named mr. hockey
70/71 opc negatives :
very poor photo of bobby orr on card # 3
tough centering issues on some cards--not nearly as bad as 71/72 though
tough to find in psa 9 as most vending cards suffer from a slight amount of green ink from card backs "bleeding" down one edge of card fronts.
please post your favorites with positives and negatives, and if you have any more positives or negatives to add to the 70/71 set, please list them.
thanks
