Pictures of a Merc Dime. Are they the same coin ?

My picture is on the left and a picture that came from a Web Site is on the right. It sure looks like the same coin to me. After some opinions are given I will tell you what the coin was graded when I saw it on the Web Site and then what it was graded when it was purchased from a Ebay auction.

  • Yeah same coin, toning spots are identical, the picture on the right was just shot in the correct angle to bring out the colors... image

    Same coin, different light.

Attractive, not the best reverse strike, like it as an MS65.

  • The 1st shot was probally shot with ambient lighting, thus the dull looking luster and lack of color showing through. The 2nd was taken with some direct high level lighting, which really shows the nice luster and color... image I'll agree with Baley's 65 grade... image

    Same coin for sure.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

It's the same coin; looks like Russ took the picture on the right.

I'm also siding with the group saying it's the same.

Kinda purdy in the right pic.

but you do not mention what it looks like image is it like the one on the left in hand or the one on the right in hand which sure looks mighty special indeed. Both coins are the same for sure - definently not FB (duh!)..honestly I really like the coin onthe right. Coin on the rigt looks MS-66 at least from here - I'd even venture 67 - when you see the coin on the left I'd have said 65 or 66 at best. See how phots can be so deceptive.

A word about the pictures. The coin is half way in between the two pictures. More luster than my picture on the left but less color than the picture on the right. If it looked like the picture on the right what a killer coin it would be. Both pictures do not bring out all of the detail on the reverse. The lower diagonal is weak but there. The middle band is flat as a pancake.

More opinions and then a little story about this coin from me.
