Grade advice on PR Jeffs. please

I noticed some PR JEFF. experts in a post. I have a set that was part of a collection that I bought. I have very limited knowledge when it comes to Jefferson proofs, and would appreciate opinions concerning their grades.

Thank you,
Louis

  • Oops sorry, I am new at this. Will edit.

    Thank you
  • I got the picture fine, but it's always so hard to tell from scans which marks
are on the plastic vs. coin, how the mirrors are, etc. Some of them look
pretty nice and I'd say they range from PR64 to PR66.

  • They look like nice coins. The photos are dark. I would have to tilt each coin at all angles under my halogen lamp to see how many hairlines I could find. I would also need to see how clear and reflective the fields are.

That's the problem with evaluating proofs with photos. Hairlines are so critical to the grade but they may or may not show in a picture. As Russ has shown many times, depending on the angle of the lighting you can make a PR62 look like a PR68.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
