PCGS PR69DCAM

I received PCGS PR69DCAM Kennedy half from an ebay win today.There is a pit in the field of the obverse, rather distracting too. Seems to me there should be more than one point deducted for this. The kicker is that I was trying to upgrade from a raw coin with the same problem.

You say a "pit"- you mean a small depression? Maybe it's a mintmade flaw like a small strikethrough or planchet flaw, that wouldn't affect the technical grade?

lordmarcovan - It does look to be a planchet flaw. I didn't know that wouldn't detract from the grade though. I'll need to keep that in mind when buying sight unseen.

Placid - Return policy not mentioned in auction but I have emailed the seller. I was just surprised to see it graded 69.

If it is a planchet flaw than I can see it going 69 though I might have given it 68. Mint caused defects shouldn't hurt the grade, but should keep the grade from 70 IMO.

a planchet flaw shouldn't affect the grade - on business strikes. but on a modern proof, i'd think it should be grounds for a considerable downgrade.

you should try the grading guarantee on that coin.
