One of the big buyers is offering $10 per roll the 98-D cents in chBU. The coin lists
in the CDN for 90c / roll. This buyer is very picky and will insist all the coins in the
roll is at least MS-61/62 but this is typically pretty easy for most of the modern cent
rolls (don't know about the '98-D). While there's a chance it's a misprint, they usually
do a good job of getting them right.
In any case it points out something about the market for later date coinage; that one
has to take price guides with a grain of salt and actually watch the market. Not even
the CDN buys and sells coins and under certain circumstances and in hot markets the
prices listed may be nearly meaningless. Many of the pre-'99 rolls are exremely tough
to find but tend to be cheap because of limited demand. Any time some demand mater-
ializes, the buyers discover they must offer very strong prices to get the coins.
