Delaware quarter die crack and other varieties???

Are there any of these that carry a premium over normal value...I just came across one in UNC that has a die crack from the mouth of the horse through the C in Caesar all the way to the rim. Its kinda cool.

thanks in advance

  • The missing "E" Variety is most probably a grease-filled die and not worth too much over face value, I don't know if the die crack would offer a premium though.

There are no known die varieties in the state quarters yet. There are numerous issues
with varying degrees of rotation which can be considered varieties but purists now days
    classify these as errors also.

A true variety would probably sell for a great deal of money even if fairly common (which
is also true for the rotations). Major errors on the states coins sell for very large premiums
over comparable issues of several years ago. Minor errors like filled dies will sometimes
bring a premium when they are discovered but interest and prices typically fade.

The die crack in Deleware you are talking about is well known...They call it the "Spitting horse" variety...although I dont believe its an official variety. I have seen a few on ebay but at the moment, they only offer a premium for peopel who think its cool. I would hold on to the spitting horse quarter and see if it does become an official variety! The dissapering e is pretty common though, I have a few of them...
