When going through rolls

what is the most common wheat cent you find. ??

for me its always a ton of 1946 wheats. im stunned that it wasnt the 56 57 or 58s but something 12 yrs older. what do you see alot of

  • I find alot of fifties and 45's-47's. 1957-D and 1956-D are the commonest ones though.

    Another vote for '56-D here. I think I saw that more than any other when I was a kid and looked through rolls.

    I think it may depend what part of the country you're in, too. If you get mostly D-mint coins where you are, you tend to get a lot of '56-D, '57-D and '58-D. If you live in P-mint country, you might be more likely to get those dates around 1944-46 when an ungodly number of Philly coins were minted. Over this much time I'm sure there has been considerable coast-to-coast mingling, but I'd imagine you'd still see mostly Philly coins east of the Mississippi (roughly), and mostly Denver wheaties to the west.

  • Only found one in ten rolls 1946.
    Young Numismatist that collects: Morgan Dollars, SAE, Proof Sets, and Liberty Nickels.
    I also love to go through rolls to find coins.
