1870-S Seated Quarter; that series just doesn't have any tough dates in it and could really use one. No telling me that they struck two of 'em and they just have to show up or any of that nonsense either.

I wish that when they started to make gold coins again in 1986 they kept the same traditional denomination vs size. A $5 gold coin is now the size of a traditional $2.50 quarter eagle and a $10 gold coin is the size of the traditional $5 half eagle and so on.
It would be nice to have a West Point $5 half eagle the same size as my Coronet $5 half eagles to complete the type set with some sense and consistency.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I believe that an 1870-s 25c will show up sooner or later, Rella. It just makes sense.
Another coin that I believe should have been made, but has never been seen is a 1796 quarter eagle with a small eagle reverse. All of the other denominations, gold and silver, had small eagles on the 1796 issues, and in fact, did not even start with large eagles until 1797. The 1795 large eagle $5 was made at a later date, but the 1796 $2.50 coinage was made in 1796. The small eagle reverse was used into 1798 on dollars & $5. The 1796 dimes had small eagle reverses, of course, and often dime dies were used for quarter eagles.

You must be referring to gold bullion. Try gold commems, they are all traditional size and weight and 99% of them were made at West Point. In particular, I think the 1999 Washington commem is pretty cool.

For some reason a Carson City Roosevelt dime just doesn't do much for me.

Well, if we take this line of thinking further...
I'd have love to see CC Ikes, Lincolns, Kennedy's, etc...
Would remove the mystique of the CC mint though...
Oh, On second thought, never mind...

The building was not yet completed in 1837. Now an 1865-D half eagle would have been way cool.

And a 1960 dollar, too.
