I figure the only way for me to go to the National...

is to get in my car, drive there tonight, enter the world series of card grading, and win. I probably have enough right now for gas (one way). As much as I would like to go , those odds are just a little too slim for me!

  • Jeff,

Don't forget to take into account that Gasoline gets more expensive the farther North you go. You might not get as far as Cleveland. image

    Collecting Nolan Ryan cards (68-94)
  • I'm agree with you on that. I'm the same way. I spend a lot on cards but not nearly enough to justify a trip half-way across the country to save on them.

Why dont they "bounce" it around? East coast one year West Coast the next and Central the next. Or do they?

  • I was surprised in one of the last posts mentioning it doesn't happen on the west coast very often, my understanding is the west coast has by far more collectors. Any theories?

Dealers vote on the location. Traditionally, it had been in Anaheim about every 5 years (1980, 1985, 1991, 1996, 2000), and was scheduled to be there again this year. However, at a dealer meeting at the 2000 National, the agenda was changed, and a vote was taken to change the location for 2004 to Cleveland, which would have meant no western U.S. National before 2008. That has subsequently been altered, but the show location is still largely determined by an East Coast dealer network.
