clashed dies- Silver III coin

Hi David:

Thanks for taking time to answer questions. Will the grade assigned to a silver III coin be affected by clashed dies? The clashing is significant in that you can see part of the outline of the shield, including stripes, and the star on the reverse... Thanks for your thoughts.

    Clashed dies, die breaks, and other mint-made deviations are generally not a negative. Clashed dies are definitely not a negative. I remember in the old days when descriptions of many Shield nickels always used to say "Interesting die break," leading me to wonder if there was such a thing as an uninteresting die break. Bottom line, die clashes are neutral.
