Listing and payment fees? Administrative expenses? Isn't that the cost of doing business, in every business? But, you want your buyer to pay for that completely...quite insulting, IMO.

  • Does it mean that aloof is the high bidder on a card that he later found out was a reprint?
  • 8 bucks for shipping? plus another 5 for insurance?

    gimme a damn break

Just out of curiosity--is there an SMR listing for the '83 reprints?
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • he mentions part of his shipping is "listing and payment fees," this is highly illegal, right? i've heard ebay frowns on this bigtime. i reported him to ebay, cause that's ridiculous

I'm surprised he doesn't ask bidders to pay for part of the expenses necessary to raise him in to adulthood, because, if those expenses weren't paid, we wouldn't have the pleasure of bidding on his fine auctions!
  • no not bidding, just looking this a.m , and wasnt quite awake yet.

4 days left and its already up to 250??? i wonder what it will go for... at that rate i would guess around 1000, but for that price i rather spend a little more and have a PSA 1 of the real deal.
  • The current Beckett catalog prices this card at $50 hi, $25 low. That being said, these are not up for sale (especially graded) as often as you would think they would be.
Yes, my ebay id is cardboardjungle.

  • These have really gone up in value. I'd rather see people plopping down $250 on this then some counterfeit Mantle that someone wiped their a$$ with to make it look old.

I couldn't find it listed. IMO, that is too much to pay for the reprint - maybe if it were a 9 or 10 - the card only books for like 30 bucks in the 04 Standard catalog.

Thanks Mike, I saw the the high bidder had bought some real 1960's graded stars like Willie Mays for only $100-$150, so I was curious why he feels this reprint is worth double what he was paying for the real McCoys.

Last I checked, the whole '52 reprint set could be found for about $150, maybe up to $250 if still factory sealed. Some high-rent dealers (Fritsch for example) had a $299 sell price.

It never occurred to me I could grade just the Mantle and sell it for twice what I paid for the whole set. Just imagine if it pulled 9 instead of 8.

awwww.. come on! no need to play internet cop with this guy.. he might be a dumbass for charging the s&h that he does, and an even bigger dumbass for explaining his reasons.. but havent we discussed this in length? if you dont like the s&h, bid on something else! this guy has some really nice stuff.. i'm drooling over the Marciano.. the guy should've just said "$9.95" s&h and been done with it.. no need for him to explain.. then nobody woulda snitched on him..

snitches were always frowned upon when i was comin' up..

edited to say, and its not like he's "SanFranciscoBayTrading" or whatever that company is that auctions off weekly COUNTERFEIT 1952 Mantles.. this guy has a nice, legit, Mantle reprint..
