  • I don't see what you're talking about. But it does appear you're missing a pic, maybe that's a closeup?

    Looks 63 to me.

  • I don't see any problem with the reverse and the obverse looks great, nice colors !!!

    I'd say it's a MS64.

Way nicer than 64 a strong 65 to me. I don't see anything on the rev though.image

  • I see it now, looks like he's spitting up some hair balls. image

Looks like it's milk spots or possibly from an irregulat die. Two small to worry about.

    Still think it's a 64 possibly a 65.
  • OK, I see it now. Looks like garden variety spotting to me, but I'm really no Morgan expert. On further review, I think my 63 may be low, that reverse is really nice. Tough to tell with the obvsere photo you've posted, but I'll say 64 now.

    Looks like a 64, shot 65.
Between the eagle's neck & wing looks frosted. Could be a weak strike. The hair above Liberty's ear looks a bit flat. Yes? The center of the Morgan dollar is usually the weakest struck area. I think I have one or 2 with the frost not broken like yours.
Nothing defective or detrimental to the grade I would imagine

"Thats the "hurling" eagle variety!! "

you guys crack me up image...I'm talking about between the neck and the left wing( right side of coin)

Hey, now that I look at it again it does kinda sorta look like the eagle is "hurling"

In real life not milk spots, just small chatter, don't know how else to describe it.

Really nothing to worry about, the sliver under the 0 in 1880 is more obvious. In fact its real similar to the sliver in this one.

Tom, that is a strike through, and as a matter of fact, part of the wood chip is still in the zero.

I thought I told you about that when I imaged it, but we did so many I may have forgot to mention it to you.

It's difficult to tell a grade with the obverse pic- it looks to me like there is quite a bit of chatter on the cheek and in front of liberty's face- so I would hazard a guess that it would only grade a 63 at best.......
    Nice color!!

You saying that you got that coin for around $40 with that color?

If you did, in the words of many others,

    YOU SUCK!

Looks like a little bit of die spalling (chipping) occured in the area between the neck and the left wing during the hubbing of the die. If the die had been lapped a little more the field would have been a little lower and the chipping would have been lapped away allowing the flat field to extend all the way in there like it should have. I wouldn't consider it to be anything special.

Conder101..thanx...I was thinking maybe struck through grease.

Eric...$37.00 plus $4 shipping, the seller called it a 63, even though I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to grading, I believe itza 64 and thank you for the YOU SUCK, I finally feel like I belong.
