I always thought that was strange. But I figured that the ad was kind of a "teaser" or invitation to further inquiry. I can't imagine that someone seriously considering spending $1M+ on a set of coins on eBay is going to do so without some serious contact with the seller.

That could be. I know my threshold on eBay is about $1000. If I'm going to spend more than that, I want to go with a bonafide dealer I know and trust.

Where did this guy come from? I heard he claims to be a rock dealer, photographer, etc. No one I spoke to said they knew of him 5 years ago.

I find it strange to advertise a premier set like that on ebay.
