PSA mis-labels - what do they do to fix?

I was just going through a recent submission and noticed that PSA had slabbed a 1976 Topps PSA 8 Mike Schmidt in a case with a 1978 label on it, while they slabbed the 1978 PSA 8 Schmidt in a holder with a 1976 tag. I e-mailed them last night, but no response yet today likely because of National. I know the cards are worth little, almost difficult to justify the postage, which I don't intend on paying for out of my pocket. I'm going to National on Thursday, but no chance I'm going to waste an hour at their booth to get it fixed there. I'm sure this has happened before to people on here... what have they done to resolve the problem? What should and shouldn't I expect from them?

They will fix - but you typically have to pay postage. Best bet would be to list on Ebay as is if you aren't planning on keeping.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

A761506 -- I've had this problem several times over the past 5 years. PSA will fix it for free and send it back to you for free. If you are going to the National, I'd drop it off. They may or may not be able to fix it while you are there, but should be able to fix at some point and mail it back to you. Another option is to "piggyback it" by sending it with your next submission to PSA so that the postage fee for that card is negligible.

    Good luck.

I dropped off a mechanical error at the PSA table at a show recently. It took me less than 5 minutes total (mine was not a label problem, but a hair inside the holder, so your time may vary). They shipped the card back to me free via registered mail. I recommend that you take the cards to PSA at the National, so getting the slabs fixed won't cost you anything.

I had it back in less than 3 weeks IIRC.

  • The last one I dropped off for a mis-label was mailed back to me within 5 days.

I have a card labeled as being from the 1934 Beatles Color set that I think needs fixing as well. Ill probably send that in with my next submission.

Since you are going anyway, bring them to the National and drop them off, as advised. I have sent cards in to PSA with errors like this on my dime, and they always fix them fairly quickly and send them back registered mail, paid by them.
