    Thanks for asking, being the Rookie here even I can answer that one.
    A slabbed coin is one that has been graded by a professional Grading service such as PCGS and placed in a sealed plastic hold. Thus Slabbed. image

    That's a coin that has been graded and encapsulated by a third party grading service (pcgs, ngc, anacs, etc.) image

    One that has been captured out in the wild and held captive in a plastic cage.

    when a coin is stuck in a chunk of plastic that's about 30 times the size of the actual coin, you have a slabed coin.

    if there's a grade on chunk of plastic that's backed up by some semblance of a cash guarantee about the accuracy of the grade, then you have a certified coin.

    slab = coin coffin
  • There is also a band of rogue collectors that break them out of jail only to put them in different jails !

    Yeah, but the different jails are much more compact, easier to transport and easier to store (they take up a lot less room!).

    That said, I gotta go break some more coin-coffins!!!!! image

    Yeah, but with an upgrade, it's like breaking them out of the County Jail and transporting them to Federal Jail (which is much better), just ask Martha or Betty.
