Stop with the political candidate signatures

If you have a signature would you please stop making it political. We get enough of this garbage everywhere else and quite frankly we need a place that is a political free zone. I really don't care if Kerry waffles and GW is corrupt and I don't think that putting it here is appropriate. If you need to be political call fox news or listen to NPR and stay away from here.

Generally, I agree. I don't mind simple bumper sticker style pix, but the ones that are insulting or otherwise inflammatory are right out. Also, I wish the guys who post pix of the WTC getting hit would stop it.

But what the hey -- I'll post my candidate, too:

Don't give PCGS any ideas. The next thing you know there will be PCGS coins with political signatures inside the cases! I can see it now "the so-n-so MS 70 coin" They could sell them for profit. Next they could run ads on the label, too! Then we wouldn't see them on these pages.

While we're at it, do away with the animated gifs, the girly pics, the Biblical quotes, the anti-Biblical quotes, the pithy sayings, the advertising images, the eBay links, or anything else that somebody might find annoying or offensive.

it seems that no matter what someone posts in their sig line that someone somewhere is "OFFENDED", whether it's Kensteelheader's lovely dead (yet tastefully photo'd and not to mention tasty) animal or a political quip or pic.

Let's outlaw ALL sig lines along with flashing banners and coin ads. PCGS should charge for sig lines.

I am offended at this thread! Some of you need to lighten up.

I don't mind the political advertising in the sig lines.

What does bother me is that I have noticed, in the last few days, that political views are showing up in coin related topics.

You want politics, go mix it up with the boys and girls over on the Open Forum. I'm sure they will oblige youimage

Among other arguments, it is hardly off topic or out of place to display political allegiances considering the actual existance of our hobby comes from the US Government and the politicians that represent us.

Therefore...Want more value for your coins (stocks, business, quality of living, etc.), then Vote Bush 2004!

Yeh right. I hear way too much college bickering on every AM radio stations, news stations and every newspaper. The Ducks are so wrong on the war, the economy that they divide the country. Sorry Pal but that was a lame attempt.

I am not offended by the political sigs just flipping tired of this political bickering that is dividing the country. My father in law literally tried to choke me last week over politics and I did not even say anything political, criminy we agree for the most part. Politics has gone way too far and I think that this forum should be free of this stuff. Both sides are literally like fascists, you have to agree 100% or your are a pariah. You literally can't turn to a single place anymore for some peace and quiet and talk about a subject we all enjoy without someone sticking their politics into things. I have had it. I personally liked Ksteelheaders pic and I am not offended by most sig lines its just that the political thing is saturating literally everything. Honestly no one here is going to sway another with the sig line so what is the point?

I dunno, the part in my sig line that says "Please, save the stories and just answer my questions and tell me how much." Ever since I did that the dealers that have seen it that I deal with always tell me.... "Well no stories here and this is the price."

    Think I swayed them?image

Lame attempt... It was not an attempt at anything. Your strongly suggesting to STOP WITH... is an attempt to control. An attempt to control what and where people express in a coin forum...when in fact your OWN AUTHOR PIC has ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING to do with coins.

I did not even consider posting a BUSH banner till you told me not to!

    Right back at ya....Lame attempt!

If this political keyboard barf is sparking entertaining threads like this. I'd say put the jpeg of the bush, kerry, ect. bumper sticker in sig lines and let the sane people watch obnoxious political followers verbally strangle themselves over who is better to run the country and who is getting "offended" by the kerry wafflehouse gif.

People are always fun to watch. image

I totally agree, no one can have their own opinions that agree a little with both sides. You are expected to be totally to the left or totally to the right, the middle of the road is being completely eliminated. Anyone who pledges their allegiance to a particular party or candidate instead of this country is a TRAITOR to the United States Of America!! Neither of the two parties has the countries best interest at heart, they both have their agendas mostly based on money and power. If you look back in history all the great societies that have collapsed were brought to their knees by one thing and one thing only GREED GREED GREED!!

And unfortunately we are well on our way to that point. Even this hobby is headed down that path, you rarely see posts talking about history or other aspects of the coinage people collect, these days most of the threads are about value, profit, how much can I sell this for, can I get this coin regraded (maxed out) so I can sell it to make a buck! The more people talk about money and value the less and less they talk about the coins themselves (even posts in this tread say you should vote for X candidate so your coins are worth more). 50-60 years ago do you think all the great collectors talked about were how much their coins were worth?? Probably not as most conversation were about strikes, luster how long it took to fill that last hole in their album where can I find this tough date. I just hope people wake up before it is to late but usually when GREED takes over common sense goes out the window and the end is not far behind.
  • So, for those who frequent multiple boards, they should change their sig line each time the skip from one to the next? As long as politics aren't being debated in the wrong forum, who cares what a sig line says? Just ignore the stupid thing.
Glock: the original point and click interface.
The Second Amendment is in place in case they ignore the others.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and liberals.
Criminals love gun control, it makes their profession safer.
If guns are outlawed can we use swords?
A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone
  • My personal opinion is that signatures more than a name and a witty line make more space that I have to scroll through while reading meaninful discussion. I could go without sigs all together. But Political sigs are particularly anoying, There is enough of it everywhere else.

Hey, Goose- I think YOU are the one who should lighten up, what with all your silly little icons and such. You're not afraid that your boy will LOSE, are you? After all, you did survive 8 years of Clinton and you still have all your guns, don't you? (Looks like you guys have forced me to do the thing I'm complaining about-I don't make a habit of it, though.)

And Doug-I know you just couldn't help yourself. By the way, how DARE you tell me, or anyone else here, who to vote for?

As I've stated before, I think there should be a binding vote on this crap-religious and political. I come here to read and sometimes participate in issues that deal with Numismatics. It should be an ESCAPE from this stuff, and it seems to get worse every day.

Personally, I agree. It's getting harder and harder to find a refuge from politics and the flame wars that ensue. I enjoy arguing politics once in a while, but when I do I seek out political forums. I don't want to see the stuff everywhere; when it spreads all over the place, it gets really toxic.
