Can anyone identify these?

1969 California Angels "photostamp" set

image

I've tried e-mailing the seller through eBay for more information on these, but I'm getting an e-mail bounce-back. The logos on the caps and jerseys are airbrushed out, so this may just be some low-level or local release. Has anyone seen these before? Thanks!

    1969 major league baseball photostamps

stamps were sponsered by the players assoc. not major league baseball, thus not allowed to use team insignias.

there was a 1970 issue also.

    thanks, lee
  • I bought a set of those when they came out. Although I think there were also league specific sets, mine was for all teams. A small number of stamps came in the stamp book and you had to order the rest through the mail. I think I still have the book and quite a few of the sheets. It was different at the time and about the only alternative for baseball cards that hit my little town. Each one of the stamps was to be cut and glued (just at the top) over a corresponding sized square that had biographical information. The set I had must have been 1970 as it had Seattle Pilots pictures.

Thanks for the info! I'm curious now since you said they were only supposed to be glued at the top, if residual glue is what caused the yellow staining along the top border of some of the stamps. I couldn't tell if it was just a bad scan or something more serious, but now I have the feeling it's glue...
