58 seems like a generous grade seeing how its scratched alittle on the obverse.
and a scratch under the eagles left wing on the reverse.

58 must be a market grade grade.
i,d call it more of a 53 but, i aint the pro grader so....

  • I agree, 58 is a gift, but still a beautiful coin

Thought the grade was easy, but considering its age and all maybe that is why. In any event, I love the toning on that one. image

They gave it a bump because of the toning. That's a coffin coin if ever there was one.

  • The reverse is spectacular, but the scratches in front of liberty on the obverse would keep me from getting it

i guess the grader didnt use a loop to grade it.
    anyway, great closeup pic.
    it shows everything.

Too many scratches on the obverse. I don't like it.

AU details scratches, cut by date should have possibly been body bagged. I'd net it as an XF-40.
  • I don't like it at all. But I do like the commems he's showing in the ad.

Welcome to the wonderful world of third party grading of bust coins. Land of the "Who cares if it has rub, it's PREETY!"
With the scratches, properly graded by amount of wear (but no downgrade for flaws.) Without the scratches this coin would now be in a NGC 62, maybe 63 holder.image

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

well I always like the cap bust coin but half dime are to small for and old man like me to see wiyhout a glass. the toning is awsome. for that money it a good deal, but I won't bid to much more on it.
