Grapevine Coin Show was OK

Well like usual, I thought the Grapevine Coin show was pretty good again this year.
On Saturday it was pretty full, Sunday like usual had dealers leaving early.
I bought a couple of Morgans, and a replacement 1994 SAE (the previous one has a unsightly big white milkspot on it).

One of the dealers had some really fabulous brilliant cobalt blue PCGS slabbed Jefferson Proof nickels and a really nice gold toned Proof nickel too.
I do say those nickelw ere really really nice. Unfortunately I didn't have enough cash on me to get even one of them. I would have loved to have gotten both a blue and a gold toned Jefferson nickels. If they weren't in the PCGS slabs I would have considered them to be AT nickels as they were really brilliant in color.

  • Sounds like you have a nice show near you. When is the next one?

    2PM - 6PM Friday, 9am-6pm Saturday, 9-3PM Sunday.
They typically have 70 tables in use at the show.

  • I was there Saturday. I saw those nickels as well; even in the PCGS slab, I find it hard to believe they are truly NT. I also saw a really nice 1870 (?) proof set.

Although it was really crowded, I thought it was a decent show. Although I didn't pick up too many U.S. coins, I added quite a few high grade darkside coins that I needed for sets. More than anything, I enjoyed talking with dealers and collectors.

  • We made it to the show on Saturday as well. Too bad I didn't know who to look for...would have loved to met some of you from the boards. Although for as many people as I talked to it's highly likely that I DID meet some of you. Joe had a great time and is increasingly drawn to more darkside coins. Myself, I still prefer Morgans & picked up a few from Ed Hipps...what a great guy, along with a few other random goodies. The wallet was pretty thin by the time we left. Overall we had a great time and can't wait until October. Anything else going on before then? Any other shows in this area?

I was there Saturday as well. I picked up 3 nice buffs and a small truckload of darkside stuff - including 30 SA coppers!!!

I saw the proof nickles that folks were talking about - had a very nice conversation with the dealer and his wife - Mike and Dawn Egger. I bought 2 of my new buffs from these folks. This was the first time that I had seen them at the Grapevine show - I hope that they come back for the next one. Royal coin and jewelry also had some nicely toned Jefferson proofs, some slabbed and some raw.

All in all, it was a good show and I am looking forward to the next one!

Missed the show. Anybody know when the Lone Star Mint sponsored coin show in Richardson is? I seem to remember it to be around August every year. TIA image
