Low Grade vs High grade

Why are there so many people willing not to take a lower grade coin to add to their collection when they know they can never afford the higher grade. like i know people who dont have 100,000s to spend on a ms 65 or whatever key dates and they are more than happy not to have the coin period. but would refuse paying $100 or so to have a G4 grade of the same type of coin. am i nuts for taking what i can afford and enjoying that till something better comes along

Because they're interested in a certain look in a coin, rather than just filling a hole.

is it silly if you know u wont be able to afford what you want to get that look. when does a collector draw a line and say i want this coind cause i want that year or cause its to finsih my collection
i know very few collectors who would be stubborn to pass on a coin not in the grade they want to finsih a collection off knowning they wont ever get the one they want in the grade tehy want.

There is nothing wrong with collecting a series of coins, low grade if must be.

But I like to do more then as you put it fill holes. Although most of my formative collecting was filling albums.

I like choice pieces now, ones with detail, interest, and it can be any coin from any era.
