Goals for the National

have decided to go to the National and realize I'll have to look for more than Kellogg's cards. Any ideas what a New York Giants team set of 1933 Goudeys might cost me. Looking low to mid grade PSA 3-5? Also hope to finish off my T-206 Giants team set.
I figure to complete the final handful of cards for my Lombardi era Packer championship seasons (need like 5-6 cards)
Also want to get a team set of Super Bowl XXXI Packers. Is that 1996? What brand is considered the most sought-after for that season?
Looking forward to the luncheon and the grading contest. And hoping to meet King Kellogg if the crowd around him isn't too large.
Strong buyer of 1970 Kelloggs Football & 1971 Kelloggs Baseball and Football. Please help me find cards!
I have a few hundred extra PSA graded 1971 Kellogg's cards. E-mail for price list. Looking for 1970 Topps Supers in PSA 9 too.

  • Becouse of my work schedule (i work 50-60 hours a week at my day job) im only going to be at the National for one day (Saturday) and it will be a full day, so full im not sure if i can get everything done but here are my goals:

    1) Meet as many forum members as possible.

    2) Buy some PSA graded 1948 Bowman football cards for my personal set.

    3) Buy at least one piece of pre-1950 football memorabilia, i love the early football cabinet style team photo's, panoramic
    photos and things like that.

    4) Get some autographs (im going to get Broadway Joe and the Steel Curtain for sure).

    5) Look for deals to add inventory to my web site.

**(note)** If you see a big guy that looks like a Hell's Angel only dressed better, with half of his right leg tattoo 'd and he's wearing something with the Pittsburgh Steelers logo on it then that's probably me so come up and say hello. Right now im sporting a full beard but that will probably be gone by next weekend.

Hope to see you all at the show.
    Paul.

  • hey Paul,

if you want a cool piece of displayable memorabilia from the late 40's- early 50's, i would recommend picking up an early model motorized (electric) football game. the ones with the metal football field, and the little plastic football players. you set em up in formations, then turn it on and the vibration causes em to move. i guess this was considered entertainment before tv. the games themselves are pretty boring to play, but they make excellent display pieces- especially the boxes. check out this auction. 1949 Tudor electric football game. i believe this was the first ever electric game, if not it's one of the earliest. i have the same one, passed down from my dad. most games can be picked up for under $50. not bad for a half-century old piece of football memorabilia

  • GR189, Thats a cool early football game. I had a newer version of that electric game when i was a kid in the late 1970's, all the players were more detailed and in Steeler and Cowboy team colors. I wish i still had that game, I could buy 20 of them today but it wouldn't be the same as the one i owned as a kid.

Also, When is your Plante web site going up?

Pretty cool that a Mayor of a Major US City wants to meet King Kellogg. Shouldn't be the other way around !

who knows. i finally found a few computer experts willing to help build my site for me, then my computer suffers the technological equivalent of a lobotomy. it's completely trainwrecked, so i'll have to fix it before i work on my site. i'll probably debut it after i get my Quaker Oats PSA 5 rookie in mid august

Build it yourself. Im a complete dumba$$ when it comes to computers and i built my site myself using Yahoo site builder 2.0 and i don't think it looks that bad. It took me about 15 hours to build the site to the point that it is at now but that's just becouse i didn't know what i was doing and there was ALOT of trial and error, I could build a site like mine now in two hours easy.

Just jump in and have fun.

Will , I agree with Paul. I built my (non sports related) site with Yahoo sitebuilder also, knowing nothing about it to start with. It looks ok but I know that I could build something really nice now.

Same as my goals for a trip to Vegas- to be able to walk away from the tables with some cash still in my pocket.

that and sneak a few beers away from Larry!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • which I will sneak away from you.

    Heineken's, right? No Bud-Lite.

Griffins - why is that a goal for the National? I always felt it's not a successful card show if I left with cash on hand.

Nick- I thought they taught you in law school to read every little word in search of actionable loopholes-

    <<with some cash>>>

Still need a few bucks for beer and cab fare back to the hotel!

  • Larry,

Elected folks like mayors (and us humble county supervisors) can pull rank over a king any day!

Seriously however, glad to se you back on the boards Mick, and hope to see you in Cleveland later this week.

Goal for the National: Not to get thrown out for causing a scene at either the BGS booth, the BMW table, the Rick Giddings table, or potentially the GAI booth. Don't know if I can maintain those goals though.

Griffins - The King is buying the beer. Keeping cash for that is a waste of good cards. As for cab fare, walking is good for you, and you could probably pick up a nice E-card in mid-grade for what you would otherwise waste on having someone drive you. image
