Stewart has one (his registry set was open for viewing for a while), and PW. C #6 (TM) owns one, and if I were to guess I'd say Gerry has the other.

Know what I think is neat... All 8 ms65rd 20-s's are in the registry except for Gerry's...

Stewart (once said he owns 2 of them)
    Tom Mershon
    The Walsh Collection
    Charles Roberts
    The Hobart Collection
    Lauren's Lincolns
    Gerry

On the other hand there are 8 65rd 24-s's but very few in the registry. Only Stewart and Tom I think.

Sometimes it really amazes me how some of my Lincoln collection has grown in value. Above, I see that only 8 PCGS 65 RD 1920S Lincolns are in the pop report and appear to all be accounted for by registry owners and Gerry. I happen to own a PCGS MS64 RD 1920S that I "made" back in 1998 from a coin I purchased from Bowers & Merena in 1988 for $179. Supposedly, the MS65RD is worth $20k+ today and the MS64RD with 69 slabbed is worth $1k. I'm just happy to have my 1920S sitting in my collection. Steveimage

  • I'm pretty sure Haletj has it right. It's a very good bet that Gerry has one.

So Steve, any thoughts of "resubmitting" it. It is probably worth $100 at a chance of a $19K increase

Yah, I hear you. My 20-S is one of the two PCGS 65BN's. I bought it about two or three years ago for about $230, if memory serves. At that time it was the only PCGS 65bn. Shortly afterwords another one was made. I think it was a cross over from an NGC example. I think I recognized it. I had about four opportunities to buy the second example from different sellers over about a six month period. It was priced anywhere from $500-$800. I feel confident I could get $800 for mine right now, if it were for sell.

I bought my SVDB in January of last year for about $1700, it would bring 3K now. What's sad is that I'm not even in the largest growth area. My early collection is about 90+% brown. Those reds just keep going up.

    Not really,
While I believe my coin is a solid 64RD I'm certain that the people at PCGS are not handing out $19k upgrades. Actually, there is no way I would spend that kind of money on ANY coin. My entire collection has cost me less than $24k net and I think I would be "off my rocker" to trade them all for a 1920S 65RD. JMHO.

Wow, good job with that 20-s Steve! Do you have a registry set? It's worth a lot more than 1K by the way, avg ones are more like 2K now. PQ ones could be more like 4K. I think the last 65rd to sell was only 20K but some people didn't think it was so nice of a coin. I bet if a nice one was auctioned it'd be even way more! I haven't heard much about the 8 65rd 24-s's or 10 65rd 25-s's, but 20-s could be the second toughest date in gem red after 26-s.

  • Stewart,

I would think it would be perfectly reasonable for you to sell me your duplicate 20-S. Heck, I'll even DOUBLE what you paid for your first one! How about all those other duplicates. You know I'm after a 14-D in 66RD...
    I'll trade you my 15-D in 67RD...
