2004-P Doubled Die Obverse Jefferson DISCOVERY

Click here for an article on the exciting recent discovery of a doubled die obverse, Peace Reverse, Jefferson nickel!

With the recent years of "single squeeze" hubbing at the Mint it is exciting to find a true hub doubled coin produced from this style of hubbing. How is it possible that an offset doubled die could occur from the single squeeze method? We may never know....

  • That's really cool, and the photos are excellent!

It will be interesting to see what response the mint may offer.

Very interesting! Is that the same Gabe that posts on coppercoins?

    Interesting indeed!

My guess is that "single-squeeze" is the goal, but sometimes they need two.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

So, will this be the first doubled-die in months that makes the cover of CW and NN and is not retracted within two weeks with a very different explanation? image

doesn't look like much to get excited about unless the goal may be to embarrass the mint or refute their claim of how they hub. as with most errors the one's of any true significance are easily seen with low power magnification. this doesn't seem to fit in that category, so my guess is that it'll only be of interest to collectors who specialize in super-mag-error-detection.
