he just responded and told me 4500 not enough, $6500 is the reserve.. i told him O.K. send me a scan with your hand and i'll do $6500.. i told him to look at my feedback..
Nice find, this one makes little sense. Near perfect feedback and now he's trying to sell a card that's already on eBay? Stuff like this makes me want to change my IP and create a vigilante account.
yeah, it appears like he's actually bought & sold some decent cards.. but it DOES appear to be the same guy, because its the same type of description as everything else he sells..
My thoughts too. Usually the account hijacks are dormant accounts that have no card buying/selling experience. I guess he figures a 1 day auction will be quick enough to not get caught and the reserve makes him appear serious.
<< <i>i've got an 8 and several 7's and a buttload of raw in all grades.. every time a 9 pops up, GODSWORK gets it! .. seemingly regardless of price.. >>
I had to pay nearly $100 above SMR to get my PSA 9 Rickey. And that's after falling short in a dozen previous auctions in the $250 range. Is this Godswork the fellow who's responsible? My buy was in the late winter, but amazingly SMR still refuses to budge from $175.
I sell for a large wherehouse dude, our scanner went down, i used the pic from 4 sharp corners(my card has better centering), i do have the card, my feedback speaks for itself, i don't do shady business, ive had to use 2 pics of other cards in the past few days...i don't like to but hey $hit happens you can't control, reserve price is 6500 if curious Brian

"My scanner's broke and I used someone else's picture, but my card is better. Send me $6500 and you'll be happy. See my feedback."
I've asked this before: Why do IQ's fall off a cliff with these scammers? I guess the smart ones are the ones we don't talk about here because they get away with it.
A few days ago people were getting spoof emails asking them to input their eBay ID and password. It looked VERY legit, return address was aw-confirm@ebay.com, and if I hadn't already heard a zillion times that ebay will NEVER ask you in an email for this info I might have fallen for it. I suspect some ebayers did and now their accounts are being used like this. I sent the spoof to ebay, by the way, and they confirmed it was fake.
$8K-10K card and can't/won't reschedule auction until scanner fixed or pay $100 for a new one........which leads me to the following:
1) birdbrain 2) bonehead 3) on drugs 4) repeat sequence 75 more times
BOTR >>
its also "conveniently" scheduled to end ~1 day earlier than another PSA 10.. considering there are only 6 PSA 10's graded, what are the odds of 2 being on eBay at the same time? A smarter scam artist would have stolen the scan and saved it for a later date..
If he gets anyone to fall for the "bidding war" trick, I bet they'll be asked to pay by money order or Western Union, no PayPal. Since it's off eBay, the poor sucker will have no recourse.
p_A I just don't know - sometimes the stuff that goes on in ebay has more twists and turns than a fictional novel!
In the first of a series of novels by Stone193 - the "Ebay Avenger" - Sgt. Dirk Danski, a no nonsense, embodiment of Columbo, is investigating the untimely demise of Justin March, aka Switchblade on the CU forums, who was investigating the conspiracy behind numerous shill biddings by Kentstate. The trail of multiple ebay accounts and bogus identities coupled with a tenuously protracted case of libel against Justin points the finger of guilt at Mick Murdock, purveyor of merchandise on ebay.....ya just gonna have to buy the book!!!! edit: lawyers threat: make the names more obscure or else!
I know this seller personally. He sold the Henderson for $8750, which was almost double what he paid for it. He bought a sizable collection recently of Bonds, Henderson, and other HOF and sure bet HOF graded rookies.
I won't vouch for his general honesty (he was caught shilling in the past), but that Henderson isn't a scam.
BTW, BOTR, wouldn't you call listing the 8 Bonds BGS 9.5's together bonehead?
<< <i>BTW, BOTR, wouldn't you call listing the 8 Bonds BGS 9.5's together bonehead? >>
Nick, It would seem that way, but here's a couple of scenerios:
1) cash flow issues / time issues 2) possibility of reeling in bigger dealers (and associated coin) with a quantity purchase of premium cards as opposed to selling single cards. 3) Bonds breaks leg tomorrow
What I don't like or at least would consider:
1) based on subgrades (especially all with 9.5 centering) and lot size, possibility of this group being sheet-cut is very real. 2) Don't like all the hoopla in the description. 3) High bidder at 0 feedback with a couple more at very low feedback.
All in all I don't like his style and communication. I wish I had these cards to flip - It'd be done a whole lot differently.
So Nick, would you go with marginally bonehead? I'd consider his Henderson auction in the major bonehead catagory.

unbelievable to me.. i trust you if you say it wasnt a scam, but as BOTR said, he has one of the toughest cards of the last 25 years and he wont lay down the $ for a new scanner? why the 1 day auction? is he hurting for cash?
even if i "borrowed" somebody elses scan, i would certainly explain it in the description.. i would FOR SURE include the actual PSA cert #.. he didnt volunteer to give me the PSA cert, and i was making legitimate offers that i would have followed through with..
i think the all the facts added together label this guy a bonehead..

i would read the book, but i think i got the cliff notes from all the threads before they were deleted..
but i'll buy a copy if you'll sign it.. i'll then send it to PSA/DNA for certification and sell it on ebay..
pandrews - I'd say he's hurting for cash. He spent $40K buying out a collector and didn't really have $40K of good liquidity.
BOTR - as to your 3 scenarios, #1 is still bonehead (don't put yourself in a situation where you're that tight for cash), #2 cuts the other way, because a dealer wouldn't pay what a collector would per card, and #3 is the fondest wish of fans of several other teams.

..."should i cancel the auction"...
then again a few minutes later AFTER the auction is pulled and says..."i've got a bidding war going on"...and to let him know if i'm interested.
