what year should be in a 1976 mint set uncirculated coins?

Hi all, I just recieved my set of 76 uncirculated coins and had a question. "D" set is dated 1976 but the "P" or no mint mark is dated 1975. Is this normal or is there something I am missing? BTW the shape of these coins is not good. looks like the mint was playing toos when they picked these to package. Also the P mint ike dollar has a nice big fingerprient almost in the middle of the moon.

This isn't too unusual but was not made this way by the mint. Both packets should
contain only 1976 dated coins. The '75 and '76 packets appear identical at a glance
so it's not unusual for spilled sets to get put back together wrong. Right now the
'75 is going for more and the P packet is worth more than the D, so at least you've
    come out ahead.

    Ken,

I am glad cladking answered that, When I read your post, I was thinging that the sets must have got switched by accident?

The bicentennial coins went into production in the middle of 1975 and supplanted
the 1974 date at that time. The early dollar coins were all type I's but these were
soon switched to type II's. There is no definitive way to tell the '75 halfs and quart-
ters from the later ones but the mint set issues do look different. The '75 coins are
generally lower quality and gems are quite unusual.

There were a couple of different '75 souvenir sets minted. One had the '74 quarter
and half and a later one contained the bicentennial coins.
