Darkside alternative to Registry Sets...revisited
I had posted this info before under a different thread. I think it got missed by most since the thread had already been read by most.
So ... I'm repeating it all here.
Here is the original thread - read it if you missed it!
OK ... everyone seems to agree, it's a good idea.
Now how do we implement it?
Well, I have kicked it off. I just registered a domain "coinshow.org" (it is going to be showing coins isn't it?) and set up hosting with a good company. I'm good on the technical side of this stuff but I'm hopeless as far as artistic ability in creating a website design. I'm also not much of a web programmer. I don't think we need anything fancy ... an attractive design, and an easy to use navigation system. Once that is all down, it's just a matter of duplicating the design for each section of photos.
We do need to standardize on size of photos and such. Decide what sort of credits to give ... or to keep the whole thing anonymous. And I'm sure there will be many more things.
BTW ... the hosting also comes with 300 POP or web based mailboxes (as well as many other neat features). They will be available to anyone that is contributing to the project.
Let's talk about it!

that darksiders share sufficiently to make much of a registry. Many here collect British
and there are several Canadian collectors but most of us specialize in areas which are
not widely shared by the rest.
This would be great to get going and in the future I will certainly want to contribute and
see results. Right now contributing would be problematical.

<< <i>Are you sure you know what you're getting into, Jim? It can be a rather tremendous project!! Considering what's most popular here, though, I would recommend starting out with Canadian and UK coinage. I'd also like to suggest you take a gander at Ron Wise's world currency website. He's been doing a major hosting of pics for several years and I'm sure would be willing to share his lessons learned. No sense traveling over the same ruts! >>
Come on over ... to The Dark Side!
