I am selling a 2003 Leaf certified materials emmitt smith mirror gold jersey card serial numbered 1/25. This is a 1 of 1 since it is the first card printed in the set of 25 !! Beckett value is $275.00. Any interested buyers email me at mudvillemaniac@yahoo.com

  • BV $275, please tell me where you find that, my Beckett lists it at $120, and even that isn't realistic with the proliferation of the low numbered cards. If it is 3 colored I will pay $60 and if it is not I will pay $40. If the #1 of 25 is a 1/1 because it is #1, is the #2/25 a 1/1 because it is #2?

    I guess my # 5 of 25 is a 1/1 because it is the only #5 of 25

    Joe's #16 of 25 is a 1/1 as it is the only #16 of 25

    Sally's #38 of 100 is a 1/1 for the same reason.

In fact--all the millions of serial numbered cards I guess are 1 of 1s--Isnt that fantastic!

    1 of 1s for everyone!

Too many sellers make this claim. There are certainly collectors who place an extra value on cards numbered which match the players' jersey number, and some people also like what you have (#1 of any numbered collection), but it does get tiring hearing eveyone say "mine is a 1 of 1" even if there are 25 total, or 75, or 100, or 500.

Cards that are numbered "1 of 1" are the only true "1 of 1" cards--all others are not, otherwise ALL numbered cards are 1 of 1.

I like Emmit, so congrats on your card in any case. Good luck with your sell.

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • Years ago I looked at a card that was serial #ed 1/XX as a 1/1, but now with most cards serial #ed, a card #1/XX isn't that special anymore. I would consider it anymore valuable. $50 would be a fair price for that card figuring it is Emmitt.

  • You are right. So the first person to email me with a $50 offer gets the card. I'm sorry about the 1/1 thing, it kind of disgusts me too. But so many people are putting that I didn't think it would hurt. As far as the value, I just checked and you are correct. When I bought it a year ago, it was worth $275.00. I guess not retiring has deminished his value.

Assuming there are several different Emmitt Smith jersey cards available with the same or similar numbering, how do you pick which one is better? I personally attach a premium to larger swatches and to multicolored swatches, but beyond that, I couldn't care what set the card was from.
