1880-O Morgan -- Small "o" vs Large "O" Mintmark ??

I have noticed that most of my 1880-O Morgan Dollars have the small "o" mintmark, but one of my coins has the large "O" mintmark similar to the 1881-O, 1882-O and subsequent years.

Does anybody know which of these mintmark types is scarcer, and whether there is a market premium for either of them? Would the large "O" mintmark coins be associated with a different type of reverse (i.e. an 1879 or 1881 type reverse)?

Both are common in 1880 and carry no premium. The Micro O in 1899 carries some premium. The Micro O's for 1896, 1900 and 1902 carry huge premiums and have recently been rising in price. An PCGS F12 1896-O micro O closed on eBay this week at $536.

Jack is right. Both are common. On the 1880 Micro Os, be sure to chech the obverse for a strongly doubled ear lobe. If present, it is the rare top 100 VAM-43.

Thanks for the info. I had to check mine. No luck. I did notice the ear is detailed on the morgan.
