If PCGS feels it's AT will it come back in the original slab or a bag?

if it is a crossover (non-pcgs slab), yes it will, since it is never cracked unless and until PCGS has already decided to slab it at the same or higher grade.

  • If it's cross at any grade, it will only come back to you in the original holder if it's a bodybag, which would include AT, cleaning, tooling, etc. etc. etc. They only crack it out if they are going to put it into their slab.

As I understand it, on a true crossover, if they think it's a bodybag coin, they just return the slab. They don't crack it out until they've examined it and committed to slabbing it under whatever terms were specified on submission.

Now if you crack a coin out of a so-called "inferior" slab *before submission* to eliminate any possible bias, you're of course on your own and you're getting a bodybag. That's why it's important not to crack out a coin that may trigger a bodybag.
  • Close, but I believe incorrect. I thought on the fine print that it says that they
won't crack it out unless they believe it will meet or exceed your minimum
grade requirements; however, if they detect damage/cleaning/etc. that was
not noticeable before they cracked the slab, then they will not encapsulate it
even though they cracked it out.
