Sometimes I can't see any difference. Although I do prefer the NGC Ultra Cameo's (sorry PCGS) they are deeper and clearer. I don't think DCam's need to have clear mirrors.
If I could ever figure out how to image my coins, I'd show you one of the wildest Ultra Cameo'd PR Barber Type Sets in the world!
There are differing degrees of cameo contrast. A coin isn't just brilliant or Super, Ultra, Deep, Cameo+++. The dies wear down slightly on each and every impression. So we are trying to fit the coin into a box. NGC uses Ultra Cameo and PCGS uses Deep Cameo. But there are coin that have more frost and better mirrors than the average Deep/Ultra Cameo.
Yeah, I wish it were mine. It showed up on eBay over a year ago and hammered down at about $380. The buyer crossed it to PCGS at MS67DCAM and then it was later sold for a little over $700. It's a VERY early strike of the birthmark die variety.
Yes, dcam at PCGS is roughly equivalent to ultracam at NGC.
However, in my experience, PCGS is somewhat tighter in giving the dcam designation than NGC is in giving the ultracam designation. More simply put, there are some ultracams that will not dcam at PCGS. So, if you are thinking of buying an ultracam and crossing it to PCGS dcam, be very selective.
Same thing applies to the cameo designation.

That must be what you're looking at--PCGS has CAM and DCAM; NGC has Cameo and Ultra Cameo... basically the same, unless the graders are having a bad day and feel like being stricter...

Sure they would...the dog turd would be the one with more eye appeal than their cameo coin.
