1953 Topps Archives or the real McCoy?

Just came across this auction for a complete 1953 Topps set. Looks way too glossy and clean to be the original. My guess is it's a '91 Archives set. image

Ya gotta love the scan, where each "Mint" card is laid out on the floor...jay

I happen to like the 1953 Topps Archives! Only paid about $30 inc. shipping for the set, and they satisfy my 53T cravings (sorta) until I can get serious about the real thing. Never occurred to me that I could sell for more than 3 times that ... which is what the clueless newbie with a feedback of 1 is about to pay. Do you think he seriously expects to receive an original mint 1953 Topps set?

Ahhh. If only those were real for that price. I'd take just one of them in that condition for that price!

What does an original 1953 Eleanor Engle card go for? Not to mention the Hank Aaron, Ted Williams, Dizzy Dean, Duke Snider, and Casey Stengel. It's not the gloss that gives this one away, but the extra 63 cards. You have to give him credit for all the work he put into the auction, though. It surely took a while to create all those hyperlinks. Some people can't even be bothered to write complete sentences.
    WANTED:
2005 Origins Old Judge Brown #/20 and Black 1/1s, 2000 Ultimate Victory Gold #/25
2004 UD Legends Bake McBride autos & parallels, and 1974 Topps #601 PSA 9
Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • But the current high bidder is building himself quite a fine collection:
